Multilingual Tweetdeck

Anyone using Tweetdeck for Twitter, knows that although this is possibly the best Desktop Twitter application, it suffers from a certain nuisance that affects international users more than native English speakers.

The issue is that although Tweetdeck will display all English text perfectly, it will fail to display any text in Greek (or even allow users to type in any Greek text – or in any other UTF language for that matter).

The solution to this issue is child’s play, given that someone takes the time to go through the Tweetdeck settings:
1. In the Settings section there’s a “Colors/Font” option (you can find the settings menu on the top right hand corner of the TweetDeck application – the “wrench” like icon)
2. In there, there is a section called “TweetDeck Font”
3. Therein exists a couple of radio buttons. If you move the radio button from the “Original Font” to the “International Font / Twitterkey” you will be able to send and receive tweets in Greek and in other languages as well 🙂

Όσοι θέλετε να γράφετε και να διαβάζετε Ελληνικό κείμενο στο TweetDeck το μόνο που έχετε να κάνετε είναι να ακολουθήσετε τις παρακάτω εύκολες οδηγίες:
1. Κάντε κλικ στα Settings (ρυθμίσεις) – το εικονίδιο στο πάνω δεξιά μέρος της οθόνης του TweetDeck που μοιάζει με γαλλικό κλειδί
2. Βρείτε την ενότητα “TweetDeck Font”
3. Εκεί υπάρχουν 2 ραδιοκουμπιά. Αν μεταφέρετε την επιλογή από το “Original Font” στο “International Font / Twitterkey” θα μπορείτε να λαμβάνετε και να στέλνετε κείμενο στα Ελληνικά!

Ναι ήταν γελοίο αλλά και πάλι πολύς κόσμος δυσκολεύεται 🙂
