How to: Troubleshoot the Trillian plugin for Skype on Windows 8

I’ve been using Trillian for a number of years. One place for my MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, gTalk, Skype, etc.

With Windows 8, I’ve lost access to Skype. However, it’s not too hard to get back. All you need to do is change the compatibility settings for the executable.

1. Close Trillian
2. Right click on trillian.exe in the “/program files (x86)/trillian” folder
3. Select properties and then enable the compatibility settings.
4. Select Windows 7 in the drop down and also tick the “run as administrator”.

Run the program again and it should connect to Skype as expected.
